According to Ken Research, Vietnam luxury travel market was valued at approximately US$3.2 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach around US$5.83 billion by 2030. The same report estimates that luxury traveller trips could increase from approximately 1.83 million in 2025 to 2.89 million by 2030. The numbers show a clear change in demand. As this market grows, choosing when to travel and how to design a luxury journey becomes more important.

Vietnam has long been known for offering good value for luxury travel. Beautiful resorts, excellent food and diverse landscapes have made it possible to enjoy a high level of comfort at a relatively attractive price compared with some other destinations in Asia. But Vietnam has moved beyond its old value-luxury reputation. Many of the country's best-known destinations are now accessible to a much wider range of travellers. We would start with a different question: Where can we experience Vietnam that allows us to feel comfortable, deeply relaxed and fully enjoy the destination? A luxury journey does not have to be the journey that covers the most ground. It can be the journey that gives you enough time to appreciate where you are and what you recieve from this.

We once designed a journey for a luxury female traveller who wanted a long journey through Vietnam, but she did not want to spend too much time moving between destinations or visiting crowded places. Her first arrival point was Ho Chi Minh City. The city was an important part of her journey. Ho Chi Minh City is young, energetic and full of different cultures. It is a good place to discover Vietnamese food, explore local neighbourhoods and experience the energy of modern Vietnam. But even with a private guide, a busy street remains a busy street. A private guide can give you a more personal way to experience the city, but they cannot turn a crowded neighbourhood into a private space. So the city was used for what it does best: food, culture, history and city life. After that, the journey moved towards places where nature, space and a slower pace could create more privacy.

Where to Go for a Luxury Journey in Vietnam

Vietnam offers very different landscapes and experiences from north to south. The right route depends on the season, the traveller's interests and how much time they want to spend in each place.

Ha Long Bay & Lan Ha Bay — A Private Journey on the Water

Ha Long Bay remains one of Vietnam's most recognisable landscapes. The limestone islands and calm waters create an impressive setting, but the experience can feel very different depending on how you travel.

For a luxury journey, a private charter cruise gives you more control over the pace. You may want to visit a cave in the morning, kayak through quieter waters or simply stay on sundeck and enjoy the scenery. Another day might begin with an early morning meditation, followed by a slow breakfast and an afternoon spent watching sunset from the sundeck. Ninh Binh offers a tranquil side of northern Vietnam. Its limestone mountains, rivers and green countryside create a natural setting for travellers who want a deep immersion in it. Set apart from Vietnam’s busier destinations, the island is surrounded by protected areas, forests and quiet beaches. Vietnam's hotel market has expanded rapidly over the past decade. According to JLL's Vietnam Hotel Investment Guide, by July 2025, Vietnam had more than 185,000 rooms across around 1,500 hotel properties, with upscale and luxury segments accounting for approximately 57% of total supply.

Vietnam's luxury hotel market is also continuing to grow. Luxury Tribune reported an estimated value of approximately US$493 million in 2025, with the market projected to continue expanding through the next decade.

It shows the fact that there are more luxury hotels and resorts to choose from than ever before. But that does not mean every luxury property belongs in every journey. When selecting a stay, we would ask these simple questions:

1. What kind of privacy does the traveller value?

Is it a private villa set apart from the main property, a secluded location, a private entrance, or simply a place with fewer guests?

2. How important are location and ease of access?

Consider the journey to the property — including the vehicle, boat transfer, luggage handling and arrival process

3. Does the property suit the traveller's taste?

The architecture, interiors, surroundings and overall atmosphere, and whether the property creates the feeling the traveller is looking for?

4. What does the stay actually offer?

Look at the level of service and hospitality, as well as spa and wellness treatments, facilities, dining options and the quality of personal service.

Unique Experiences and Carefully Selected Vietnamese Cuisine

One of the differences between luxury travel and standard travel is the amount of time and access available to experience a destination. A local experience can become very different when it is private and there is enough time to understand what you are seeing. A visit to an artisan's workshop, for example, can go beyond watching a demonstration. You may have the opportunity to meet the artisan, hear about their craft, understand the techniques and try making something yourself.

Vietnamese cuisine offers another way to experience luxury Vietnam. Vietnamese cuisine changes significantly from region to region. Local ingredients, cooking methods and the balance of flavours all contribute to the character of each place.
